To raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer, an issue that touches many of us, Rye Garnets Ice Hockey pulled out all the stops and dedicated its home game on February 3, 2016 vs Scarsdale to this important cause.
Fund raising included an eBay auction of autographed NHL memorabilia, the chance to Chuck a Puck at cancer and the generous donation of ticket sales by Playland Ice. Proceeds from this three-pronged attack netted $2100 for RGIH’s charity, the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in West Harrison.
Adding to the spirit of the cause, cancer survivor and Rye resident Camille Gladstone spoke of the importance of coming together to support advances in treatment as well as being there for each other. And Rye Senior Hadley Durkee treated the crowd to an amazing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
