For the third year in a row, the Varsity Hockey Program collected non-perishable food items for the Carver Center Food Pantry* in Port Chester, NY. Collection boxes were set up at Rye High School, Rye Middle School, and Playland during the last two weeks in January. The Garnets also dedicated their January 13th game against Mamaroneck to this important cause. Rye and Mamaroneck fans showed their community spirit for their neighbors in need and filled the collection box with food items.
To culminate the successful food drive, Garnet coaches and team members delivered three car loads of food to the Carver Center and stacked the pantry’s shelves.
*The Carver Center Food Pantry in Port Chester continues to experience notable increases in the number of families they serve – they need to have enough food to feed 1,400 people every month.
